When it comes time to replace your window, you may have a few questions about frameless glass window installation. Installing new windows is a big investment, so it’s important to do your due diligence before choosing your windows and a professional installer to work with. To help you make sure you’re getting all the necessary information before your frameless glass window installation, here are the top questions to ask your window installer during your consultation.
Q: How much does it cost to install a window?
Get a complete breakdown of everything proposed by your window installer to make sure there are no surprises down the road. This will provide you both with a clear expectation of the goods and services being provided. Make sure to inquire about the price of each window, window specifications, cost of labor, and if any painting or trim replacement will be needed.
Cover Glass Answer: It depends
The cost of a new window installation depends on many factors, including the size, shape, and material of the doors, but you can expect to pay roughly $100 to $650 per window, on average. That price will go up for premium specialty windows, like Cover Glass frameless systems, as well. Specific features such as folding palettes and the complexity of the installation can also impact the cost.
We also offer financing offers through the GreenSky Loan Program to relieve some of the upfront costs of home window installations. Because each job we do is custom, our representatives will give you a free quote so that you can effectively budget for your frameless glass window installation.
Q: Is there a warranty?
Any window installation company worth their salt will offer a warranty on their product. Because new windows are such a significant investment, you’ll want to make sure they’re covered in case any unforeseen circumstances come up. Ask your installer how long the warranty lasts, what is covered (including accidental breakage), and customer service response times.
Cover Glass Answer: Of course!
During the first ten years after the date of purchase, CoverGlass USA offers a warranty for defective products. The Cover Glass USA warranty applies to products initially installed in the client’s property and does not apply to any tear-outs or reinstallations. This warranty does not cover accidental glass breakage reported three days after installation. Click here to learn more about our warranty.
Q: What materials do you use?
Ensuring your window installer uses the highest quality materials will improve the quality and safety of your windows while also preventing corrosion. Find out what kind of caulk, foam, screws, and glass they’re using to ensure they’re using the proper materials. It’s also a good idea to look for energy-efficient materials to decrease your utility bills.
CoverGlass Answer: Quality non-corrodible material
We’ve gone through extensive testing to ensure all our frameless glass window materials are resistant to corrosion. Our panels are made of tempered, laminated Low-E glass. Our tracks are entirely aluminum, our weather strips are UV-protected polycarbonate, and our wheels and any accessories are polymer and stainless steel.
Q: Can I have some information about your installers?
You’ll want to make sure that the installers your installation company is working with are qualified to get the job done. During your consultation, ask if the company is using employees or subcontractors and if those installers are certified. Working with installers that can properly perform your frameless glass window installation will ensure your investment holds up over time.
CoverGlass Answer: Certified window experts
We employ expert window and door professionals who are trained and certified to perform complex installations that are safe, functional, and hold up over time. Contact our representatives to learn more about our team.
Q: What does your installation process look like, and how long is this going to take?
To get a good idea of the window replacement project timeline, you’ll want to ask your installer how long planning, shipping, and installation will take. The length of time it will take to complete the installation usually depends on the size and skill of the installation crew.
CoverGlass Answer: Roughly 3-4 weeks
Our frameless glass window installation is a two-step process that begins with creating a clean opening by removing all systems that might interfere with our tracks and exposing the header and sides of the area. Then we weatherproof the installation area, install tracks, and drill weep holes. Once we’ve completed this step, we measure the area and order the glass from our supplier. Finally, we install the glass 10-12 business days after the glass arrives and complete the installation. Installation typically takes about one day per 18 ft of track or glass, with a total lead time of about 3-4 weeks for complete installation.
Q: Do you have a showroom?
Being able to visit a physical showroom rather than just browsing for products online will help you get a better idea of what type of new windows you want in your home. You’ll get a hands-on look at the products so that you can compare and contrast styles, colors, and grid options.
CoverGlass Answer: Seven showrooms across the country
