Weatherproofing isn’t just about protecting your home from temperamental or inclement weather conditions like extreme heat, high-speed winds and rain.
Weatherization also helps in increasing and maintaining home energy efficiency: which involves reduced dependence on artificial sources of energy, and increasing the use of natural sources of energy - light, wind and heat - in the home.
Weatherproof glass windows ensures your doors and windows are able withstand and endure bursts of bad weather including heavy rains and winds that can reach speeds up to 222 mph, while prevent any internal energy, like heat, from leaking out into the open.
Here, at Cover Glass, we have designed our Frameless Sliding Glass Doors to do just that. No matter the weather - wet, hot or windy - Cover Glass weatherproof windows can be used to protect your home’s interiors from taking the brunt of it.
CoverGlassUSA uses Pilkington’s Energy Advantage™ series of pyrolitically, low-emissivity glass, which is ideal for thermal insulation and solar energy retention. In cold or inclement weather, this works to prevent any latent room heat from leaking out into the open, and instead, reflects it back into the room, improving the overall insulation in the room.
All our top hung glass systems panels are not designed just for inclement weather; hot weather and excessive sunlight can be just as damaging as water and cold air. It can bleach your furniture and damage your flooring. Therefore, CoverGlassUSA’s glass panels are coated with a protective, UV-resistant coating that reflects the harmful wavelengths of sunlight away, while absorbing essential heat and light energy into the room.
Each glass panel is fitted with special UV-protected interlocking channels that ensure that there is a proper seal between the panels. This protects your home from wind and rain, ensuring that your home is kept dry and warm even as the weather dips.
The edges of CoverGlassUSA’s glass panels are protected, as well, with UV-resistant, translucent polycarbonate stripping that is long-lasting and resistant to wear and tear.
Unlike regular rubber weather-stripping, this material doesn’t become brittle. The weather-stripping uses an H-channel sealing mechanism that ensures a tight fit between two interlocking panels.
The sliding tracks of CoverGlassUSA’s frameless sliding door system are waterproofed with Protecto Wrap, ensuring that it meets the ASTM 2112 standards. Additionally, any remaining gaps are filled in with Sikaflex sealant, making the tracks completely water-resistant.
The sealed tracks prevent water from logging into your tracks and leaking onto your floors. The flexible sealing allows us to seal your doors in many angles: 45°, 90°, 120°, 150°, 160°, 170°, and the standard 180° angles.
Depending on the amount of exposure that your sliding glass door system receives and your specific requirements, Cover Glass USA has two drainage options:
Both of these options are designed to drain any standing or collected water away from the room.
there’s more to weather-proofing than protecting your home from Mother Nature’s temperamental fits. A truly effective waterproofing system also ensures that your home is also energy efficient: maximizing the use of natural energy and reducing dependence on artificial lighting and heating systems which consume a lot of energy.
At CoverGlass, energy-efficiency is our USP: each and every aspect of our sliding glass door systems have been designed to protect our clients’ homes from bad weather while allowing them to still harness the natural energy that comes with it.
